If you are a Christian, then no doubt you have prayed before. But are you praying when you feel lost? If not, then perhaps this article will help to give some insights into how to pray when you are feeling lost. Every Christian has moments when he or she feels lost or alone or unsure of God’s presence or just generally uninspired.

Some people feel lost when they are in the middle of a spiritual dry spell, an emotionally hard time, or a physically trying time. Others feel lost simply because they have been overwhelmed with life and have had to stop and deal with circumstances beyond their control. But, however you find yourself feeling lost, this article will show some steps on how to pray when you are feeling lost.

What to Do When You Feel Lost:

1. Recognize that you aren’t alone

You may feel as though nobody else gets what you’re going through, or that no one feels your pain or sees your struggle like you do, but the truth is God knows exactly how you feel and He is the only one who can comfort you and bring clarity to your life.

2. Recognize that God is still in control

Even though you feel as though your world has been turned upside down or it feels like all hell is breaking loose around you, God still holds every single aspect of your life securely in His hands. He’s not going to let go, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t shake Him.

3. Recognize that God is still with you

He may not be speaking audibly through a burning bush or sending angels to whisper secrets in your ear, but He is there and He’s watching over you and caring for you.

4. Recognize that God knows exactly what you need

No matter how lost or alone you feel, He wants to bring you back into His loving arms and give you the help, guidance, comfort, and love that only He can provide.

5. Pray for yourself

It’s ok to take time out and pray for yourself and your own needs. You do not need to be the self-sacrificial martyr at every moment, and taking time to focus on what you need as an individual is something that only benefits you in the long run.

6. Pray for others around you

It’s never a bad idea to take some time to pray for those around you, or even for those who you feel are the reason that you feel lost. Sometimes just praying for others is all it takes to remind yourself what is really important in life and where your priorities should be.

7. Pray for clarity

If there is something specific that you need help or direction with, then take time to pray specifically for clarity and wisdom on the matter. God wants nothing more than to give you what you need, and if that means giving you insight into your dilemma or some clarity about which direction you should go in order to find yourself again, then He is willing and ready to help.

8. Pray for strength

If you are struggling to find the strength to go on, then ask God for the will and determination to keep fighting. He will strengthen your resolve and give you the courage that you need in order to face whatever it is that is causing your feelings of loss or hopelessness.
