If you feel like you’ve let God down, then you’re not alone.
We all have moments when we don’t live up to what we think He wants from us.
But the truth is that God never asks more of us than He’s willing to give.
Let me tell you a story about one time I let myself down by not doing something for my family.
This is also a story of how God showed up in my life in an unexpected way.
This month is my oldest daughter’s birthday.
She turned eight and I wanted to make it a special day for her, of course!
But what I didn’t know was the week of her birthday, we were going to be really busy with work.
So on Saturday morning, when she woke up asking what we were going to do for her birthday, I had nothing planned.
I was so frustrated with myself because it wasn’t the first time this happened.
I knew better than to wait until Saturday morning!
So she went outside in our backyard all by herself while my husband and I were inside doing other things instead of spending the day together as a family celebrating her birthday.
I walked outside and saw her sitting in the grass all by herself with a sad look on her face, kicking at some rocks while she was digging holes.
I went over to see what she was up to and asked if she wanted me to help make a hole for a garden we’ve been wanting to put together for months now.
Of course, she said yes! So we spent the next hour digging a hole together and planting some flowers.
It was a really fun time and I was so happy that I was able to spend time with her on her special day, even though I had let myself down earlier.
The truth is, God never expects more from us than He’s willing to give.
He’s always there for us, even when we mess up.
So don’t be too hard on yourself the next time you feel like you’ve let Him down.
He understands and is always happy to forgive us when we come back to Him.
So if you’re feeling down because of something you think you did wrong, just take a step back and remember that God loves you even when you mess up.
You have to give yourself some grace, too!
And don’t forget that He’s always there for you, ready to help pick up the pieces.
