When you’re feeling down, it can be difficult to find the motivation to get out of bed in the morning. When everything feels like an uphill battle, it’s hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel. This is when it’s important to reach for your Bible and read some scriptures that will encourage you and help you through your tough time. Here are 10 scriptures that we recommend reading when you’re feeling depressed!

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

This verse from Psalms reminds us that God is always here, even on our darkest days. He created this earth for you to enjoy and His love can help bring joy back into your life when you’re feeling down.

Deuteronomy 31:16

“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers. Then this people will rise and whore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will forsake me and break the covenant that I have made with them.'”

When you’re feeling depressed, it can be easy to feel like you’re the only one going through this. But reading verses like this from Deuteronomy reminds us that we are not alone and that other people have gone through tough times too. God is with us always, even when we don’t feel His presence.

Romans 12:12

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

When you’re feeling depressed and have a hard time finding any joy at all, it can be helpful to remember that there is always hope, and there are scriptures. Read this verse from Romans as a reminder that tomorrow is another day and things will get better!

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

This verse from John is a reminder that we can have peace even in the midst of our trials. When everything feels like it’s going wrong, we can find peace in knowing that God is with us and He will get us through the storm.

Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

When you’re feeling down or need good scriptures, remember that it’s not a sin to be sad or depressed. But don’t let your depression control your life! You can overcome anything through Christ who strengthens you.

Isaiah 41:13

“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.'”

This verse from Isaiah reassures us that we are never alone and that God is always with us. He will help us through our tough times and we can take courage from that knowledge.

Psalm 23

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

This Psalm is a reminder of the love that God has for us. Even when we’re feeling down, we can rest assured knowing that God is with us and will never leave us.

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

These verses from Matthew remind us that God will always be there for you in your time of need. He offers rest and comfort when we feel like everything else has failed.

Isaiah 40:31

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”

When you’re feeling depressed, it’s easy to feel like you don’t have the strength to keep going. This verse from Isaiah reminds us that we can renew our strength through God. He will carry us when we are too weak to go on alone!

Proverbs 17:22

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

This proverb from Proverbs reminds us that our outlook on life can have a huge impact on our physical health. When we’re feeling down, it’s important to find ways to bring joy back into our lives. Whether that means watching funny movies, reading lighthearted books, or spending time with friends and family, find what makes you happy and do it often!
