When most people hear the phrase “What Would Jesus Do?“, they think about the popular saying that is often used to make decisions. But what does it actually mean? In this blog post, we will discuss the meaning and history behind WWJD. We will also explore how Christians can apply this phrase to their lives.

What is “WWJD”?

WWJD is a popular phrase that Christians often use to make decisions. The acronym stands for “What Would Jesus Do?” and it is based on the Bible verse John 14:12, which says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

The phrase was originally coined in the late 19th century by Francis Wayland Parker, who said “What would Jesus have done under similar circumstances?” The WWJD movement gained popularity after Charles Sheldon published his novel In His Steps in 1896. This book tells the story of a group of people who ask themselves “What would Jesus do?” during times that are difficult for them. WWJD bracelets became popular in the 1990s and have since been worn by many Christians as a way to remind them to think about their actions.

The phrase “What would Jesus do?” can be used in many different situations. It is a reminder to always consider how our actions will impact others, even when it seems like no one else cares about what you’re doing. When someone asks us “What would Jesus do?”, we should take time to think about what he might have done under the same circumstances.

Christians can also use the phrase “What would Jesus do?” as a way to grow closer to him. When we are struggling, it can be helpful to ask ourselves how Jesus would have handled that situation. This can help us to find strength and guidance during difficult times.

WWJD is not just a saying or acronym. It is a reminder to consider our actions and how they may affect others. We should always take time before doing something, whether it is big or small, and ask ourselves what the consequences will be for those around us.

WWJD can also serve as motivation if we are struggling with an issue in our lives. When someone asks you “What would Jesus do?”, it can be a reminder to turn to him for guidance and support.
