What is Pentecostal? This is a question that many people ask, and there is no easy answer. Pentecostalism is a Protestant religion that has its roots in the early 20th century. It is one of the fastest-growing religions in the world. There are over 500 million Pentecostals worldwide. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at what Pentecostalism is all about and discuss some of its key beliefs.

Pentecostalism gets its name from the Biblical event of Pentecost. This is when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples of Jesus Christ. This event is considered to be the birth of the Church, and it is from this that Pentecostals believe that they have been given a special commission by God to spread the Gospel around the world. Pentecostals believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to work in peoples’ lives, and they place a strong emphasis on evangelism and missionary work.

Some of the key beliefs of Pentecostalism include:

  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit: This is a special experience that Pentecostals believe allows them to receive the power of the Holy Spirit. This experience is often accompanied by speaking in tongues, which is considered to be a sign of being filled with the Holy Spirit.
  • Divine Healing: Pentecostals believe that God can heal people of their diseases and illnesses. They often pray for people who are sick, and they believe that God can use miraculous means to heal people.
  • The Second Coming of Christ: Pentecostals believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth in the future, and they look forward to this event eagerly. They believe that when He returns, He will establish His Kingdom on earth and reign for a thousand years.
