5 Ways You’re Hindering Your Relationship With God

Ever felt like you’re hindering your relationship with God?

The Bible is a book that should be read and reread by everyone.

Why?

Simply put: because God is real and He wants to have a relationship with you.

And if you’re like me, then your relationship with God has been impaired somehow; hindered somehow.

So how can we fix what’s broken in our relationship with God?

Here are 5 Ways You’re Hindering Your Relationship With God:

1.) Stop Praying In General

Hindering Your Relationship With God

Prayer is a wonderful way to get in touch with God.

The benefits of prayer are innumerable, but when we pray wrong, it can be an obstacle to getting closer to Him.

Remember, prayer isn’t something you do to make God love you more.

It’s not about earning His favor. It’s about building a relationship between us and Him.

So don’t pray in generalities, but pray specifically.

Don’t ask God to bless everything under the sun without mentioning what He is blessing us with right now.

Ask Him to bless our family and the work we’re doing that day.

Ask Him to help others around us as we go about our daily lives.

And remember, always thank Him for what He’s already blessed us with before you ask for more blessings or favors from Him.

As you pray specifically, remember to be specific in your relationship with Him.

Spend time talking to Him in prayer and always be mindful of what you’re saying to Him.

And when He answers your prayers, don’t take it for granted.

Be thankful and grateful that God has heard you and will answer you no matter what He does or doesn’t do in response to your request.

2.) Stop Keeping God In The Dark

Do you know what happens when your relationship with God is hindered?

You don’t pray because He doesn’t listen to you.

And if you don’t pray, then you’re not talking with Him every day like He wants us to.

So do everything in your power to keep God in the loop.

Let Him know what’s going on with you.

And as much as possible, share your feelings and the thoughts that are rolling around in your head about Him with Him.

And always keep an open line of communication.

Always be receptive to what He has to say because He loves you and wants to have a relationship with you.

So listen to His words and do what He’s telling you, even if it’s not what you want to do.

3.) Stop Caring About What People Think Of You

Hindering Your Relationship With God

You may think your life is in shambles because of all the things that are happening at home with your family or in the office with coworkers.

And yes, it’s possible that your life is in disarray.

But stop caring about what people think of you.

Think about it: If we were doing everything right with God, why would we be so concerned about the opinions of others?

Or if we don’t care for what our family and friends have to say anymore, then that’s a sign that our relationship with God is hindered.

If you want to know the truth, your family or friends are probably praying for you right now.

4.) Stop Being Apathetic

When you find it difficult to care about what people think about you, stop being apathetic.

Apathy will not get us anywhere in life, but it will certainly hinder our relationship with God.

Just think about it: If you don’t care about anything or anyone anymore, then why are you praying?

People say that the ups and downs of life will build character in us, but apathy won’t do it.

So stop being apathetic and start caring.

5.) Stop Making Excuses To Leave

Hindering Your Relationship With God

When all else fails, stop making excuses to leave.

I know it can be tempting to get away from our problems and run away from them.

But if you truly believe in God, then stay put and face your problems head-on.

Believe me when I say that God knows everything that’s going on anyway.

So do what He tells you to do and stop running from your problems.

In fact, it’s time for us to get moving.

Let’s make a commitment today to build our relationship with God starting now.

Here is what we should do: First, let’s start talking with Him more often. Let’s pray every day or more if we can.

Second, let’s keep Him in the loop.

And lastly, don’t be afraid to share your feelings with Him because He will always listen.

Friends, it is time for us to stop hindering our relationship with God and start strengthening it.

We pray that you will act on this knowledge today.

Don’t let one more day go by without doing what you know you need to do.

And so it is, God bless.
