Mark is a figure in the Bible who is mentioned several times. He was one of the twelve apostles and was also an evangelist. Little is known about him outside of what is written in scripture. Some scholars believe that he wrote the gospel that bears his name, which would make him one of the earliest Christian writers. Mark’s gospel is shorter than the others and focuses on Jesus’ ministry in Galilee. It is possible that Mark was from Galilee, which would explain his focus.

Mark is also mentioned in the book of Acts, where he accompanies Paul on his missionary journeys. He eventually settles in Rome, where he preaches to the Gentiles and helps spread the gospel. Mark’s death is recorded in scripture, and he is believed to have been martyred. His feast day is April 25th.
