It is totally normal for the faith of a believer to waver at some point—even if it’s just briefly. But there are many things you can do to keep your faith strong.
1) Study The Bible
The Holy Bible is God’s word, written by men, but inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16). Each verse has deep significance, and memorizing verses will help them stick in your mind when you’re tempted to straying.
2) Pray
Don’t just keep asking for God’s help; thank Him for the blessings He already gave you! When things are good, praise Him for it (just like when things aren’t so good, pray for help).
3) Go To Church
Attending church will encourage you to keep your faith strong. It is God’s house, and He wants you there! Also, remember that the people around you are doing the same thing as you—trying to stay close to God. You’ll be able to relate with them, and they’ll be able to relate with you.
4) Don’t Look At Bad Things
Although you should pay attention to the news, don’t make a habit of seeing all the bad in the world. Dwelling on it will make it seem like there is no hope for mankind, but when you look at what God has done for His people, you will see that there is always hope.
5) Don’t Compare Yourself To Others
Everyone’s faith in God will vary. Yours might be strong, while someone else’s isn’t so firm. When you feel like yours is slipping, just remember that it doesn’t matter if anyone is stronger than you, they’re just different.
6) Take Care Of Your Body
You are God’s temple, so your body should be well taken care of. Eat healthy foods and get plenty of exercises (you don’t have to become a fitness freak, but walking every day would help). When you take care of yourself, give credit where credit is due—to God!
7) Find A Hobby
When you do something for fun, it takes your mind off of the stresses and temptations of daily life. Plus, when you’re doing something that makes you happy, you can praise God for His wonderful creation!
8) Get Involved In Your Church Life
The church is not just a weekly thing; it’s a lifestyle. Participating in church activities not only will help you grow closer to God, but it will increase your faith as well.
9) Focus On The Good Things In Life
Just because some bad things happen doesn’t mean the world is going down the tubes. Focus on all that is good and right with the world, because there is a lot of it.
10) Get Away From It All
When you find yourself slipping away from God, make sure to get away for a while. Go on vacation or spend some time with your family–whatever it takes to recharge your faith in God.
