“Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.”
Psalm 115:13
A common inquiry among believers and non-believers alike is whether or not God is always right. This discourse will not answer this question, however. Instead, we will assume that God is always right and provide reasons why it is the case. Scripture says that God’s way is perfect and that his word is flawless (Psalm 18:30), which means he can never go wrong. But what are the specific reasons why God is always right?
Reason Number 1: God Is Sovereign
The first reason why God is always right is that he is sovereign. To be sovereign means to possess ultimate power. In general, for God to be sovereign means that he is supreme and has complete control over everything in the universe. This includes having power over all things that happen in the world, as well as the actions and decisions of his creation. God is the supreme authority and is therefore incapable of doing anything that is wrong. And because he is all-powerful and all-knowing, he is not subject to the limitations or flaws that we humans have.
Reason Number 2: God Knows The End From The Beginning

That God knows the end from the beginning is another reason why God is always right. This means God has complete and perfect knowledge of everything that will happen in the future as a result of his being omniscient, his attribute of being all-knowing or having unlimited knowledge.
Consequently, because God is omniscient, he knows everything that has happened, everything that is happening, and everything that will happen in the future. As a result, he can never go wrong with whatever decision or action he makes. This is comforting for believers, because it means God is aware of and has a plan for everything that happens in our lives.
Reason Number 3: God Is The Creator
God is the ultimate source of all that exists. He is the creator of everything that there is, whether humans, plants, animals, or heavenly bodies, and he can never go wrong with his plans or commit mistakes. He has the ability to create and sustain the universe and all that is within it, and he knows exactly how to do it. As a creator, God can also destroy, but unlike humans, his actions of destruction are not against his righteous nature, and therefore, cannot be considered as wrong or immoral.
Reason Number 4: God is All-Powerful

In Jeremiah 32:27, we read, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” As the all-powerful God, the God of the bible can do anything. He is referred to as the El-Shaddai (“God Almighty”) and no feat is too difficult for him. But even though God is omnipotent and can do whatever he wishes, he uses his power to do what pleases him, yet that which is not contrary to his nature. And it is because of this power that he cannot do anything wrong.
Reason Number 5: God is Veracious
That God is veracious means he can never lie. Paul writes about this attribute of God in Titus 1:2. This means that God is truthful and reliable. In other words, God does not lie or deceive, and that what he says can be trusted as being accurate and true. As an all-powerful and all-knowing being, there would not be any reason for God to lie or deceive. As a result, believers and followers of God can rest assured that God can be trusted and should be the ultimate source of guidance and wisdom of the believer.
Reason Number 6: God is The Moral Standard
God is the ultimate authority on what is right and wrong, and that his principles and laws serve as the foundation for all moral beliefs and behaviors. God is the source of all goodness and righteousness, and his nature is completely pure and perfect. As a result, his actions and commands are seen as the ultimate standard for what is right and moral. Because he is omniscient and all-knowing, he has a perfect understanding of what is best for his creation and can never go wrong.
Reason Number 7: God is Righteous

God can never make wrong decisions because he is righteous. Being righteous means he cannot sin. God is perfect and incapable of wrongdoing. He is completely holy and good, He is completely pure and righteous, and he cannot do anything that is contrary to his nature. Not only that. The Bible also says he loves righteousness (Psalm 11:7). As a result, he cannot commit sin, which is contrary to his laws and will. Unlike humans who are imperfect and capable of sinning, God is completely above and beyond our limitations and flaws. This is another reason why God is always right.
Reason Number 8: God is Love
God is completely loving and that everything he does is motivated by love.He is incapable of doing anything that is wrong or immoral because he is the source of all love and goodness, and everything he does is motivated by a desire to bring about the greatest good for his creation. As a result, God can never do anything that is wrong or evil, as it would be contrary to his nature as a loving and good being. And because God is love, believers can have the assurance that God is always acting in their best interests and that they can trust in his love and goodness.
Reason Number 9: God is Immutable

He has always been right in all his plans, decisions, and actions and will always be. That is because he is immutable. The term “immutable” means unchanging or unchangeable. It means God is a being who is not subject to change or alteration. He is perfect and that his nature is completely good and pure. He cannot be improved upon nor can his qualities deteriorate. As a result he can never change or do anything that is contrary to his nature. And because God never changes, he will always be right, and you can always depend on him!
Reason Number 10: God is Incomprehensible
This attribute of God means he cannot be fully known. Isaiah 40:28 says that no one can fathom his understanding. While God reveals himself to us humans, our knowledge of him is often limited. Even the wisest theologians can only know so much about God. One such example is the great Swiss theologian Karl Barth. After giving a lecture at Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago, he was asked by one of the people in the audience to summarize his theology in one sentence. Barth offered a short reply, which included the words “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”
This last point reminds us that God is a mysterious God. Yes, he has revealed himself to us through his word, the Bible, but because our knowledge is not finite like his, we can only comprehend so much. This should be enough reason why God is always right. We will never fully understand what his ways are, but we can trust that because he is a holy, righteous, and perfect God, his actions will always be right in the sense that it will not violate his character and result in harm to us who love him.
